Steve wrote this uke instrumental in 'the people's key of C' on his circus-girl sister's ukulele years ago. This kora-like tune can be found on several recordings, including Harbour and Brick & Mortar. The beauty of El Belle is that you can play either part, separately, together, or in a round in myriad harmony with the basic melody driving a rhythm braid of music threads that opens the more you play it. This song is a playground in C.
Boot Camp Note: El Belle in uke boot camp is played with a right-hand technique that uses an alternating pattern with the thumb (down) and first finger (up) back and forth ON THE SAME STRING in a down/up down/up down motion - like a flatpick without the pick by alternating thumb and fingertip. This technique is also how we play the C-scale noted below.
