Gill Finn's Waltz
by Kate Power
A melody in C on the A-part and moves to the dark side in Am on the B-part - inspired by an empty house on a rainy spring day, an unplayed accordion and our tiny fish, Gill Finn, in the bowl on the counter in the kitchen. The big sound of the accordion produced jolting waves of sound and Gill would swim up to the glass through raucous honks and all - and watch as my fingers stumbled around to find the notes by ear. Gill's gone now (was it the accordion?) but the tune remains with lyrics soon to follow. This clumsy fun-loving rendition played out in our kitchen over cornbread and chili in the making. - Ellen Zerkin, guerilla video
