If You Believe
by Steve Einhorn

Portland Romance, Track 20
Winter of 1972
Boy falls in love with girl. Moves her back to the land to build yurts in New Hampshire. Winter comes. Girl goes back to college. Boy builds cabin in the woods with old barn boards. Boy sits in corner of dark cabin mid-winter with guitar and writes his first song of unrequited love. The End
Although almost no one has ever heard Steve's first original song, it has always made me smile. So before we wrapped up the Portland Romance recording, I asked Steve to sit down and play this song off the cuff. He grabbed his Gibson and played the first take in such a natural way that it came through loud and clear in pure Steve Einhorn style.
