MILKING SONG ~ MARGUERITE MEDLEY

Music - Kate Power, Lyrics - Manx Gaelic translation
A mix of the obscure and centuries old songs, one a milking song in transitioning time between pagan and christian traditions in the Celtic regions. I found the translation for the milking song in a songbook and applied the melody that seemed to come from it. Marguerite seemed the perfect round for a medley of songs in a minor key.

The Milking Song/Marguerite(Tales from Puddletown ~ Kate Power & Steve Einhorn)

Music: Kate Power / Marguerite: Traditional

Give your milk, cow, give your milk
Whilst I sing my song to you
Let the milk churn fill and spill
With your milk, my dear old cow

Blessings of God I put upon you
Father, Son and Holy Ghost
And also Blessed Mary
Give more milk, my cow

Yours is good milk, fine and healthy
From the butter there will be cream
Do your best to give me plenty
And your barley share you'll gain

Blessings of God I put upon you
Father, Son and Holy Ghost
And also Blessed Mary
Give more milk, my cow

MARGUERITE

Traditional Round
Marguerite, come feed the black cow

All on a misty morning

Come for your dinner, cow

Come, come, come

Or else you will have nary a crumb
